In Loving Memory ~<\/p>\n
\nIt is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Terrance (Terry) George Hearnden on May 18th, 2024. <\/p>\n
\nTerry was born in Vancouver on August 17th, 1938, to Jack and Meta Hearnden. At the age of 12 he dropped out of school and spent his teen years working in the bush with his father in the Lumby and Trinity Valley areas. He then went on to driving heavy construction equipment and then finally got a trade in Autobody repair. He worked at this in the Salmon Arm, Vernon, and Kelowna area where he met his wife Shirley (Ostir). They married in 1963 and were blessed with a son, Gregory, in 1964. Their years in Kelowna were spent very involved with the Okanagan Auto Sports Club as president for three years and helping to put on rallies, gymkhanas, and hill climbs.<\/p>\n
\nIn 1966 the family moved to Smithers where he spent the next 23 years working at McEwan’s Autobody. In 1970 the family was completed with the arrival of their daughter Jackie.<\/p>\n
\nIn 1989 Terry left McEwan’s Autobody and started his own business, T.M.P. Northwest, selling autobody supplies to shops from Prince Rupert thru to 100 Mile House for 14 years before retiring in 2003. He was a lover of nature and his retirement years were spent fishing, skiing, camping, and hiking in the mountains around Smithers, often seen with one of his three beloved Samoyeds. <\/p>\n
\nHe was a member of Bulkley Valley Search and Rescue for many years and was noted for his tracking abilities and was often referred to as the “Grizzled Old Tracker”.<\/p>\n
\nTerry is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 60 years, and he was very proud of his son Gregory (Diana) and daughter Jackie (Daryl) Wilson. He adored his grandchildren Brian (Samantha), Alyssa (Steven), Stephanie (James), and Amanda (Ethan) and his precious great grandchildren Theodore and Archer (Brian and Samantha) and Paige (Amanda and Ethan). <\/p>\n
\nHe is also survived by his sister Maureen Webber, sister-in law Judy Hearnden and many nieces and nephews. <\/p>\n
\nHe was predeceased by his brother Darryl Hearnden.<\/p>\n
\nHe will be sorely missed.<\/i> <\/p>\n
\nRest in Peace my dear, for you are now free to soar with the eagles and run with the wolves that climb your mountains.<\/p>\n
\nAs per his request, there will be no funeral, but a Celebration of Life will be held later this summer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
