Seabridge Gold has renewed its Licence of Occupation for the Mitchell Treaty Tunnels (MTT) at the KSM Project, extending its tenure until Sept. 27, 2044. This renewal grants Seabridge’s subsidiary, KSM Mining, the right to build two 23-kilometre tunnels connecting the east and west sides of the mine site.<\/p>\n
Seabridge Chairman and CEO, Rudi Fronk, welcomed the support from the provincial government, stating, "We are pleased the renewed Licence of Occupation provides greater clarity on the priority rights of KSM’s tunnels across the Treaty Creek Project."<\/p>\n
The tunnels will cross 11 mineral claims owned by the Treaty Project Claim Holders, a joint venture led by Tudor Gold Corp. While the original 2014 licence was due to expire last month, it included a clause subjecting KSM’s rights to the Treaty Project Claim Holders. This provision has been removed in the new agreement, securing KSM's priority in the region.<\/p>\n
Although KSM retains priority tunnel rights, the licence does not grant ownership or access to the minerals beneath the land. Nonetheless, conditions of the agreement prevent the Treaty Project Claim Holders from obstructing tunnel development.<\/p>\n
