{"id":134685,"date":"2025-09-08T18:24:00","date_gmt":"2025-09-08T18:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/interior-news.com\/2025\/09\/08\/bc-hip-hop-dancer-wins-2nd-canadian-championship-off-to-worlds\/"},"modified":"2025-09-08T18:24:00","modified_gmt":"2025-09-08T18:24:00","slug":"bc-hip-hop-dancer-wins-2nd-canadian-championship-off-to-worlds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/interior-news.com\/2025\/09\/08\/bc-hip-hop-dancer-wins-2nd-canadian-championship-off-to-worlds\/","title":{"rendered":"B.C. hip-hop dancer wins 2nd Canadian championship, off to Worlds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Surrey&#39;s Humuza Bazira (aka Humuzza) has danced his way to another world final of the&nbsp;Red Bull Dance Your Style event competition.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Bazira will rep Canada in Los Angeles this fall after winning the Canadian regional dance-off Friday (Sept. 5) at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The crowd-judged, all\u2011styles&nbsp;competition involved 16 street dancers including&nbsp;Bazira, 22, a&nbsp;hip-hop &ldquo;popper&quot; who was schooled at Sullivan Heights Secondary and appeared on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surreynowleader.com\/entertainment\/surrey-man-can-dance-to-1m-win-on-canadas-got-talent-but-has-lots-of-competition-7330367\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Canada&rsquo;s Got Talent <\/em>in 2024<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Now a two-time winner of the Canadian dance event, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surreynowleader.com\/entertainment\/surreys-humuzza-wins-national-street-dance-competition-and-trip-to-world-finals-in-south-africa-2992368\" target=\"_blank\">Bazira earned a&nbsp;trip to the 2022 Red Bull world finals<\/a> in Johannesburg,&nbsp;South Africa, placing fourth on the international stage.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I had an amazing time competing (in Vancouver),&quot; he said over the weekend. &quot;Everything from the music to the audience to the venue made it a night I&rsquo;ll never forget. My goal was to have fun and be myself unapologetically, and I&rsquo;m happy to say I was able to do that, and even walked away with the win.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<div class=\"embed-custom-wrapper\" data-type=\"twitter\" data-url=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TomZillich\/status\/1965139648789053600\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>As a Dance Your Style ambassador,&nbsp;Bazira was allowed to skip qualifiers and head straight to nationals at the Commodore.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;It&#39;s a really&nbsp;fun event, probably one of the best crowds of all events I&#39;ve been to, because the crowd is so involved and it&#39;s always a good time, always great energy, great positivity,&quot;&nbsp;Bazira said in a phone call pre-competition.<\/p>\n<p>He&#39;s excited to dance in Los Angeles this fall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The Worlds is in a really cool place, at the (NBA) Clippers arena, Intuit Dome, which is gonna be so fun,&quot; he said. &quot;There&#39;s thousands of seats there and I know the energy is gonna be amazing. I&#39;m super excited to see how that will look.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Bazira has&nbsp;been dancing for close to eight years now, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.surreynowleader.com\/entertainment\/surreys-humuzza-wins-national-street-dance-competition-and-trip-to-world-finals-in-south-africa-2992368\" target=\"_blank\">starting at Sullivan Heights<\/a>, and has also&nbsp;entered the world of acting&nbsp;on shows including <em>Fire Country<\/em> and <em>Tracker<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Dance is 100 per cent my life, and acting,&quot; he said. &quot;I am full-time dancing all the time, 365 days a year, definitely my profession. I&#39;ve danced on TV shows, movies, perform around the world.&hellip; I love art in all forms and I think acting is so similar to dancing. I&#39;m really enjoying the journey of bringing the two together.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>The 15 other dancers at the national event in Vancouver were&nbsp;Bibz,&nbsp;Nfinite,&nbsp;Isaiah Peck, Chantelle Mostacho,&nbsp;Prince Django, C.A.L.M., Professor WORD, Sunny, Romy, Kayla,&nbsp;Rahmane,&nbsp;King Mars,&nbsp;Jamal,&nbsp;Rajan
