Prince Rupert’s liquefied petroleum gas and bulk liquids terminal at its port continues to grow.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, the Ridley Island Energy Export Facility (REEF) construction team successfully offloaded key infrastructure components that will advance the continued build-out of AltaGas and Royal Vopak’s joint-venture project.<\/p>\n
The recent shipment included one accumulator, the first of three to arrive, which is equivalent in size to 12 Olympic-sized swimming pools, or about half a football field, according to AltaGas.<\/p>\n
The large refrigerated tanks designed for temporary storage of propane and butane are the largest of their kind anywhere in the world.<\/p>\n
The shipment also included two large, horizontal cylindrical storage vessels called bullets, which will maintain pressure and store product before loading onto export vessels destined for Asia.<\/p>\n
“This achievement underscores the dedication and precision of the REEF project team and partners,” AltaGas stated. “Their collaborative efforts continue to drive progress on this transformative energy infrastructure initiative.”<\/p>\n
Construction materials and equipment will continue to arrive at Ridley Island as the facility is being built. Over $710 million has already been invested with Canadian-based suppliers for the build-out, according to AltaGas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
