NOTICE OF PUBLIC OPPORTUNITY: Tuesday, January 28th, 2025

A Public Opportunity will be held on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025 beginning at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers of the Town Hall, 1027 Aldous Street, Smithers, BC to consider Bylaw No. 1970 proposing to amend the Town of Smithers Business License Bylaw No. 1850. Council has approved first, second and third reading at the November 26th, 2024 Regular Meeting.
Bylaw No. 1970: Initiated by the Town of Smithers, the text amendment removes “Mobile Vendor and Mobile Restaurants” from the definitions and sections of the Business License Bylaw. It is redirected to the proposed Mobile Vending Bylaw No. 1964.
Subject Property: All private properties and designated Town-owned mobile vending areas within the Town of Smithers.
Purpose: Mobile Vending Bylaw No. 1964 proposes to regulate prepared-to-order food and beverage from food trucks as well as goods and merchandise from pushcarts and sidewalk vendors alike. Implementation of the new permitting process requires amendments to associated bylaws including the Business License Bylaw.
Anyone who believes they will be affected by the proposed Bylaw Amendment is invited to submit written comments to Council prior to the meeting and/or attend the meeting. Written submissions must be received by 1:00 pm Monday, January 27th, 2025.
