Hazelton’s Blue Lakes Trail gets a facelift

Recreation Sites and Trails BC crews from Smithers and Terrace recently teamed up on a big project to clean up the popular Blue Lakes Trail near Hazelton.

With support from Silver King Helicopters Inc., they flew into the upper lake and spent three days re-routing a particularly swampy section of trail to higher, drier ground. The crews also brushed and cleared the upper trail, while the BC Wildfire Service took on the lower section.

"This project wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Silver King and the BC Wildfire team. We love those folks," said a social media post from Recreation Sites and Trails BC.

The trail is now open, but the road up to the trailhead is only open up to the lower parking lot.
