In 1942, Ralph Edwards, host of the radio program Truth of Consequences, led a blindfolded contestant over paper bags filled with water. In 1950, a community in New Mexico changed its name to Truth or Consequences, in honour of this show.
Alex Trebek was the long-serving host of Jeopardy.

Game shows have been a staple of television programming for decades. 

The shows feature contestants testing their knowledge and skills against others in a quest to win big rewards. 

From the early days of radio quiz shows to today’s reality television challenges, there has been a lot of variety in the world of game show entertainment. 

The competitions range from tests of knowledge, such as Who Wants to be a Millionaire or Jeopardy!, to physical competitions in shows like Wipeout to social competitions like the Traitor.
