Prince George RCMP recovered stolen property and had a suspect in custody after a theft at a parking lot.

Police reported that the suspect was seen checking vehicle door handles in the parking lot of a shopping complex located at 1600-block of Fifteenth Avenue, on Oct. 14.

"The suspect was located by the security company on scene after they witnessed her behaviour in the parking lot. A search after her arrest located multiple items in her possession that do not appear to belong to her," Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer for the PGRCMP, said in a press release.

The suspect was released from custody with a future court date.

Those who believe the police might have their belongings are encouraged to attend the RCMP detachment to speak with a police officer. If you can describe what you are missing and it matches what investigators recovered, they will return it to you.

"We are looking for anyone else who may have left their vehicle unlocked and are now missing some of the smaller, personal items from their cars," Cooper added.

Mounties are reminding drivers to lock their vehicles when they leave – whether it's in your driveway, on the street or in a parking lot – as vehicle theft can occur in any neighbourhood at any time of day.
