Washington Capitals remove Quesnel’s Mitch Love as assistant coach

Quesnel’s Mitch Love has been relieved of his duties as assistant coach of the Washington Capitals.

On Sunday, Oct. 26, the team announced that the decision “follows the findings of an NHL-led investigation into past allegations.”

Back in September, the Capitals placed Love on a team-imposed leaving pending results of an investigation led by the national league. At the time, a reason for the investigation has not been given.

Love worked as the Capitals’ assistant coach since the 2023-24 season. Before joining the NHL team, Love was an assistant coach for the WHL’s Everett Silvertips from 2021-2018 before becoming Saskatoon Blades head coach from 2018-2021.

He then became the head coach of the Calgary Flames’ AHL affiliate for two seasons before jumping to the NHL to join Washington.
