A man who was arrested after Smithers RCMP located a vehicle linked to a prohibited driver on Sept. 29 will remain behind bars.

Following a traffic stop, a further investigation discovered stolen items and led to two separate files and multiple charges for Morgan Redlack of Smithers.

Police observed the suspect allegedly driving while prohibited. He was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with driving while disqualified and resisting/obstructing a peace officer, as well as under the Motor Vehicle Act for driving while prohibited/suspended.

A search of the vehicle led to a search warrant being executed at a trailer on Monkton Road the following day.

Police recovered an estimated $10,000 in stolen property, including an e-bike, guitar, and Patagonia waders. The stolen items were confirmed and will be returned to their rightful owners.

According to Smithers RCMP, Redlack has been found guilty and remains in custody, serving his sentence.

His possible release date is scheduled for summer 2026.
