The Smithers Ski and Snowboard Club (SSSC) came home with three major awards from the annual BC Alpine Member Summit, hosted in Sun Peaks B.C.

These included, the Dave Murray Bursary, awarded to Katie Lo, recognizing her potential and commitment as a young athlete.

The club also won the Moira Jaatteenmaki Officials’ Award, presented to Matt Sear, honouring his outstanding contributions as an official.

Finally, the club received Event of the Year, for the Teck U14 Provincials, hosted at Hudson Bay Mountain last March. The club was celebrated for its excellence in organization and community engagement.

The awards showcase the club’s dedication and community impact.

“These accolades reflect the club’s strong leadership, passionate volunteers, and rising talent,” said SSSC President Jeanne MacNeil.

“Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to our partner Hudson Bay Mountain Resort, as well as to the Smithers community for their continued support of alpine sports.”

Smithers Ski and Snowboard Club registration is open for the 2025-2026 season.

The Summit brought together over 100 coaches, club leaders, and members from across the province. It featured workshops, inspiring talks, and the much-anticipated Goldies Awards Banquet, celebrating excellence in alpine skiing.
